How many of you won a fantasy football championship last year because of the contributions of Detroit Lions running back Jamaal Williams?

Williams, now with the New Orleans Saints, was a running back drafted much later than any of the top names in fantasy drafts last year. He might have even been a waiver wire addition. But he rushed for 1,066 yards and scored 17 touchdowns for the Lions. He led the entire league in rushing touchdowns and was second to only Austin Ekeler in total touchdowns.

Baltimore Ravens running back Gus Edwards may not rush for that many yards, but he is a touchdown machine who could carry fantasy teams past the finish line this season.

Like Williams last year, Edwards was not a high draft pick heading into fantasy seasons this year, if he was even drafted at all. But following Thursday Night Football against the Cincinnati Bengals, he has rushed for nine touchdowns in the past five games, scoring at least once in every one of those.

As of right now, Edwards has 10 rushing touchdowns on the season, which trails only Raheem Mostert of the Miami Dolphins. With the streak he is on and the fact that he is on one of the best rushing teams in the league, there is no reason to think those numbers won't increase, meaning there is a lot to like in Edwards.

If he is on your roster, he is likely your RB2 or perhaps even your RB3. This means he has tremendous value in fantasy football, very much like Jamaal Williams did last year. These are the players that lead you to a fantasy championship.

Continue to roll with Edwards as this season goes on as he will continue to be a touchdown scorer for your team. He may not put up huge numbers in terms of yardage, but from inside the 5-yard line, he is going to be fed the ball. That's the same role that Williams had in Detroit a year ago.
